DataFast vs Plausible for privacy and GDPR
Plausible is built around not needing consent: no cookies, no persistent identifiers, a daily-rotating visitor hash, and all data stored encrypted on Hetzner servers in Germany. It describes itself as GDPR, CCPA and PECR compliant, and many EU businesses use it specifically to drop the cookie banner.
DataFast optimizes for attribution accuracy. Its default script uses cookies so it can tie a payment days later to the visitor's original source, and its docs say you may need a cookie banner. There is an optional cookieless script, which DataFast says is less accurate for revenue attribution over weeks or months. Its hosting location isn't stated in its public docs, which matters if your DPO asks.
DataFast vs Plausible pricing at three traffic levels
The two price ladders are almost identical. The difference is the unit (events vs pageviews) and what each tier unlocks: DataFast includes revenue attribution on Starter, while Plausible's revenue goals and funnels sit on Business. Monthly billing, as of October 2026:
| Monthly traffic | 10K/mo | 100K/mo | 1M/mo |
|---|---|---|---|
| DataFast | 10K/mo: $9 Starter / $19 Growth | 100K/mo: $19 Starter / $39 Growth | 1M/mo: $69 Starter / $139 Growth |
| Plausible | 10K/mo: $9 Starter / $19 Business | 100K/mo: $19 Starter / $39 Business | 1M/mo: $69 Starter / $139 Business |
Plausible also has a Growth tier between them ($14 / $29 / $104). Both bill yearly at 10× monthly (two months free). DataFast Starter is 1 site; Plausible Starter is 1 site, Business is 10.
Setting up DataFast vs Plausible
Both are a single script tag with guides for common platforms. Plausible has an official WordPress plugin, a Google Tag Manager template and a Looker Studio connector. DataFast's extra step is connecting your payment provider and passing its visitor ID into checkout metadata, which is what makes attribution work.
Who each one is for
DataFast fits indie makers and small SaaS or info-product businesses who care most about revenue per channel. Plausible fits privacy-conscious businesses, EU companies, publishers, agencies and open-source projects that want simple, trustworthy traffic analytics without consent banners.
Moving from Plausible to DataFast (or the reverse)
DataFast can import Plausible data, so switching to DataFast keeps your history. Plausible imports Google Analytics 4 history but doesn't document an import from DataFast. Export Plausible data as CSV or via its Stats API before cancelling.

DataFast vs Plausible: frequently asked questions
Does Plausible track revenue?
Yes, on its Business plan. Plausible's ecommerce revenue goals record a revenue value with custom events, but it has no native Stripe integration; DataFast connects to Stripe and other payment providers directly.
Does DataFast need a cookie banner?
It may. DataFast's default script uses cookies and its docs say you may need a banner; its optional cookieless script avoids that at the cost of attribution accuracy over longer windows.
Is Plausible open source?
Yes. Plausible's code is AGPLv3, and the self-hosted Community Edition is free, though it omits funnels, ecommerce revenue goals and SSO. DataFast is closed source.
Are DataFast and Plausible the same price?
Nearly. Both start at $9/mo for 10K and charge $69/mo at 1M on their entry plan, but DataFast counts events while Plausible counts pageviews, and the features on each tier differ.
Can I import Plausible data into DataFast?
Yes, DataFast documents an import from Plausible.
Which has the longer free trial?
Plausible, with 30 days. DataFast offers 14 days. Neither requires a card or has a free plan.
